2025's Key Housing Bills 🔑
✅ LB 17 includes a cap on late fees, common-sense rules on application fees, and a requirement for landlords to notify tenants why their applications weren’t accepted, pushing for more transparency on often confusing and arbitrary standards set by landlords.
✅ LB 267 would create housing protections for survivors of domestic violence, including a requirement for landlords to remove the offending tenant and change the locks for the surviving tenant
✅ LB 469 would require that information on legal assistance, housing discrimination and financial resources be included with eviction notices.
✅ LB 506 would adopt the Landlord and Tenant Radon Awareness Act, requiring landlords to disclose information on radon hazards and granting tenants certain protections if radon is found in their unit
✅ LB 587 would enhance tenant protections in situations when landlords aren’t maintaining the unit to a habitable standard, including allowing tenants to take issues into their own hands and count costs toward rent
