2025's Key Housing Bills 🔑

LB 17 includes a cap on late fees, common-sense rules on application fees, and a requirement for landlords to notify tenants why their applications weren’t accepted, pushing for more transparency on often confusing and arbitrary standards set by landlords.

LB 267 would create housing protections for survivors of domestic violence, including a requirement for landlords to remove the offending tenant and change the locks for the surviving tenant

LB 469 would require that information on legal assistance, housing discrimination and financial resources be included with eviction notices.

LB 506 would adopt the Landlord and Tenant Radon Awareness Act, requiring landlords to disclose information on radon hazards and granting tenants certain protections if radon is found in their unit

LB 587 would enhance tenant protections in situations when landlords aren’t maintaining the unit to a habitable standard, including allowing tenants to take issues into their own hands and count costs toward rent
